Importance of durable thermal insulation for containers

Improved and durable thermal insulation is great to use with shipping containers.

This type of shipping container may range from small, ubiquitous foam boxes that are used for the delivery of food, chemicals and medicine, to large carryout containers for food items. Although the intention and motivation for the usage of improved insulation will vary for each practical application, the advantages of using insulated shipping applications are broadly the same. Some of them are listed below:

• Quality insulation protects products to be transported over long distances. This reduces overall costs.
• Increased temperature control. The containers, insulated with polyurethane foam, are ideal for storing products which are quite sensitive to ambient temperature fluctuations.

Better insulation in shipping containers pays. The majority of the volume for smaller shipping containers is foam and as you will know, shipping costs are usually based on volume than weight for such low density packages. As a case in point, if you manage to keep the internal volume of the shipping container constant, its outer dimension can be reduced dramatically. This will reduce the heat loss/gain proportional to the surface area outside and allow further shrinkage of the package size.
